With a network of national coordinators connected to over 3000 local information providers and partners in 36 European countries, Eurodesk is the main source of information on European policies and opportunities for young people and those who work with them. Eurodesk Brussels Link coordinates the activities of national Eurodesk centres, with the support of the Erasmus+ programme. The network also updates and manages content on the European Youth Portal.
About you
The Eurodesk IT specialist is responsible for the overall administration, maintenance and security of the Eurodesk information ecosystem. They work closely with the other team members and support both the team and the Eurodesk members in constantly running and improving the internal and external tools and processes and being up-to-date with trends. The person is also responsible for monitoring and improving the quality of the network by supporting the annual network events and quality process. The position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a creative and result-oriented attitude, and the ability to be a self-learner and a good team player.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Deskside support: involves troubleshooting IT-related incidents involving in-house software and hardware, such as conference equipment, the Internet, laptops, PCs (MacOS), and printers;
- Ensures the overall administration, maintenance and security of Eurodesk's IT cloud and in-house infrastructure (hardware, systems, software, and services) and performs regular audits and backups;
- Web administration, including web server maintenance;
- Administers the Intranet and provides technical support to Intranet users;
- Monitors and proposes new (AI-based) solutions for enhancing the work of Eurodesk (e.g. chatbots, AI) to other team members and the network;
- Manages the AWS, SES (including Sendy, Stripo) and Google Ads platform;
- Drafts technical requirements for IT developers and liaise with service providers involved in the development of Eurodesk projects;
- Liaises with external maintenance service providers;
- Maintains an accurate and up-to-date inventory of the IT hardware and software;
- Introduces and integrates new hardware and software into the existing IT environment;
- Applies updates, patches, and configuration changes;
- Provides monthly reporting, e.g. Intranet and web analytics;
- Supports the team with data analysis and survey creation;
- Prepares the annual quality assessment of the Eurodesk network for the Quality Group (data collection and analysis and dashboard creation);
- Records and solves problems within the Eurodesk IT ecosystem and the European Youth Portal(youth.europa.eu);
- Manages first-line support helpdesk for Eurodesk tools, European Youth Portal and DiscoverEU initiative;
- Provides IT support and training to EBL staff, Eurodesk coordinators and multipliers;
- Develops and updates manuals for Eurodesk IT tools;
- Provides IT and technical support during meetings and conferences by setting up video conferences and presentation;
- Other related duties as requested by the director.
Job-related skills
- Knowledge in IoT or an ability to learn and interest in the use of technology;
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Docs portfolio;
- Excellent knowledge of Google Workspace (ideally certified as Google Workspace Administrator);
- Excellent knowledge of Drupal and WordPress CMS;
- Knowledge of PHP, Javascript, HTML;
- Knowledge of software such as Google Workspace system, MacOS, NordPass, Asana, Slack, and Elementor;
- Knowledge of network configuration, WLAN’s firewall security as well as maintaining security measures to protect networks, systems, and data from unauthorised access, viruses, and cyber threats and in compliance with GDPR;
- Experience in using AI for automation or work.
Personal skills
- Excellent capacity to work in English (minimum C1 CEFR);
- Ability to correctly diagnose and troubleshoot faulty equipment;
- Ability to take the initiative and work independently when required;
- Ability to give attention to detail in the work;
- Creative and problem-solving;

Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 3 years working in an IT system and network administration role;
- Experience in project management;
- Experience in preparing IT documents and procedures;
- Experience in web administration, ideally in a similar role;
- Previous experience in information management is a big plus;
- Interest in or previous experience in the youth information field is an asset;
- Commitment to keep up with emerging trends and technologies.
Conditions
- Permanent full-time contract (38h/week).
- The applicant shall be able to relocate to Brussels and work in an international environment (English is the working language).
- The monthly gross salary is 3.500 EUR.
- Benefits include a 13th month, 20 legal + 8 extra-legal holidays, lunch vouchers, local transport contribution, teleworking benefits (150 EUR) and an insurance plan.
- Work is office-based, with 1 day of teleworking per week.
- This role requires occasional travel to events across Europe.
