Every year, the Eurodesk Awards celebrates the work of Eurodesk’s local multipliers, who are helping young people discover and seize the numerous opportunities Europe has to offer. In 2022, 31 projects from 12 countries competed for 4 prizes.
As every year, three winners were selected by the jury panel coming from various organisations. In 2022 the group consisted of:
- Ingrida Jotkaite, Eurodesk President
- Maria Walsh, Member of the European Parliament
- Mathieu Orphanides, Policy Officer, DG EAC, European Commission
- Paula Pop, Vice-President of the Erasmus Student Network
- Anja Fortuna, Vice-President of the European Youth Forum.
The first winner, identified as the ‘Most Empowering Information Project’ was ‘N.E.O.N.’ - Not Excluded from Our Neighborhood. This project was funded by the European Solidarity Corps. The project aimed to intervene in a city suburb (called District 5) to improve social inclusion and the use of urban spaces.
‘Świętokrzyskie Fulfills the Dreams of Youth’ was named the ‘Most Inclusive Information Project’. The project aimed at promoting mobility opportunities and raising awareness of the programmes that make them possible. They focused on reaching young people from smaller towns and villages, as well as young people with fewer opportunities.
The ‘Most Innovative Information Project’, the ‘Re-cycle Youth Art’ workshop series transformed old bicycles into flower beds, which now decorate parks and squares of Agros. Amongst the participants there were ESC volunteers and unaccompanied asylum seekers who resided in Agros at the time.
For the first time, the Eurodesk Network was asked to select their favourite green project to highlight sustainable green practices on the youth information field. The ‘Eurodesk Network Prize for the Best Green Project’ went to ‘Greenfluencers’. The main goal of the project was to make young people alert about climate change. To achieve this goal, five associations from Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal and Slovenia worked together, each of them leading initiatives, such as second hand markets, flash mobs, treasure hunts, photo contests, workshops, exhibitions, cleaning parks, tree planting, etc.
