SAVE THE DATE: 2027 YOUNG JOURNALISTS APPLICATIONS

.

Save the date: the Pool of Young Journalists is back!

On this International Day of Youth, we’ve got news worth sharing.

Five years ago, during the European Year of Youth and together with the European Commission, Eurodesk launched the Pool of Young Journalists in Europe. We provided a space for young people to tell the stories that matter to their generation. Since then, young journalists from all over Europe have published articles, videos, photos and podcasts on the European Youth Portal and across Eurodesk’s channels.

Now we’re getting ready for the next edition, and this one comes with something new.

What is the Pool?

A group of selected young people (aged 18-30) who want to share their views with the rest of Europe on topics that matter to them. They commit for 1 year to publish their articles, interviews or podcasts on the European Youth Portal.

Why should you join?

It’s a chance to grow as a young journalist. If you join, you will:

  • create content in the format you love — writing, video, photography or podcasting

  • get your work published on the European Youth Portal (8 million+ visits a year) and Eurodesk’s social media

  • learn from professionals through regular online training and coaching from experienced journalists and experts

  • travel to cover European youth events, with expenses covered

  • 2x training sessions in Brussels, all expenses covered

What’s new in this edition

Given the high number of applications received last year (more than 400), we’ve divided the eligible countries (members of Eurodesk) into 3 groups. That way, we guarantee the participation of young people from each country in the Pool.

  • Eligible Eurodesk countries for 2027 (France, Italy, Poland, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Ireland, Denmark, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Cyprus).

Eligible countries for the next years:

  • 2028: Germany, Spain, Ukraine, Belgium, Greece, Austria, Serbia, Norway, Finland, North Macedonia, Estonia, Luxembourg, Moldova (TBC)

  • 2029: Türkiye, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden, Croatia, Slovenia, Georgia, Latvia, Malta, Iceland

Save the date: Applications open on 22 September 2026!
