EU youth dialogue

The EU Youth Dialogue was established in 2009 with a precise aim: empowering European youth to have a say on EU policies. The dialogue fosters a direct connection between young people, youth organisations, and policymakers at local, national, and European levels through dynamic consultations, discussions, and exchanges. 

How does the EU Youth Dialogue work?

The dialogue is organised in 18-month work cycles during which national consultations of young people and youth organisations are conducted across Europe on a specific topic. Supported by Erasmus+, each chairing trio presidency also organises an EU Youth Conference during the cycle. 

Furthermore, the EUYD is an ongoing process that builds further on the results of prior cycles to ensure a permanent communication line with Europe’s youth. Current cycles are based on the EU Youth Goals.

What is Eurodesk’s role in the EU Youth Dialogue?

From the start, Eurodesk, EYCA (European Youth Card Association), and ERYICA (European Youth Information and Counselling Agency) have engaged in the process as observers, as the main European youth information and support networks. 

Eurodesk attends the EU Youth Conferences, writes a report on the European Youth Portal, and supports the European Commission in disseminating its outcomes.
