Eurodesk has launched the 12th edition of Time to Move, its annual campaign to help young people discover how they can study, volunteer or work abroad. Throughout October, Eurodesk Centres and local multipliers in more than 30 countries are organising over 1,500 free workshops, games, information sessions, artistic contests and online challenges across Europe. This year’s edition puts volunteering and solidarity in the spotlight, at a moment when the future of EU youth programmes is being shaped.
A month of activities, locally and online
Time to Move is delivered by the people who know their communities best: Eurodesk’s network of 40 national centres and over 3,500 multipliers and ambassadors in 38 countries. An interactive map on the Time to Move website lets young people find physical and online events near them, where they learn about funded opportunities and the support available to take part.
Online, young people can take part in a social media challenge and a design competition. Eurodesk’s Talkative Thursdays podcast is dedicating this year’s episodes to personal experiences of volunteering abroad.
Volunteering and solidarity in the spotlight
This year’s main theme is volunteering and solidarity. Activities also cover youth participation and democracy; boosting employability and gaining professional experience; active citizenship and sustainability; mental health and culture shock when going abroad and learning, exploring Europe and building international friendships.
‘Time to Move is about opening doors to Europe. We want every young person, regardless of their background, to know that funded opportunities exist to explore the world, grow and make a concrete contribution to their communities. The problem is that too many young people still don’t know about these opportunities or think they’re not for them. This campaign is about breaking these barriers.’
— Audrey Frith, Eurodesk Director
Reaching all young people
With Eurodesk Youth Information Survey 2025 data showing that over 30% of rural youth miss out simply because they were never informed, Eurodesk’s flagship campaign brings trusted information directly into local communities across Europe. Because inclusion starts with awareness, and no one should miss out simply because they weren’t informed.
Time to Move puts this into practice by bringing information directly to rural areas and to young people not in education, employment or training (NEET), who face the greatest geographic and socio-economic barriers.
Local multipliers give these young people a concrete entry point into learning and volunteering opportunities. For many, a first conversation at a Time to Move event is where their European journey begins.
